The 2012 Team

Mr. Craig Parkinson
This will be Mr. Parkinson's 4th trip to Lewa since he started the program in 2006.  Mr. Parkinson has been teaching at UCC for 7 years and enjoys canoeing, mountain biking and climbing.  In the last 5 years, he has climbed Mt. Kenya, Mt. Kilimanjaro and paddled the Coppermine River on the first Inuit expedition down the river by canoe.

Mr. Terry Denstedt

Mr. Denstedt has been teaching at UCC for 6 years and is an expert woodworker and carpenter. Mr. Denstedt has building experience in Canada and Japan and looks forward to working with students in northern Kenya.
Mr. Woodroffe



Mr. Woodroffe has been teaching at UCC for 5 years and is an avid mathematician, traveler and outdoorsman.  Born and raised in Australia, Mr. Woodroffe has taught all over the world and is presently the Senior House Advisor for Martlands.

David Wang

David is in IB1 and an enthusiastic basketball player.  He excels in science-based subjects and enjoys music, skiing and running.  He looks forward to collaborating with students in Kenya and learning a new language and exchanging tips and strategies in chemistry and math.





Andrew Zhang
Andrew is a talented artist and budding musician (Sax & Clarinet).  He excels in challenging situations and has a great deal of experience in computer programing.  He is a self-diagnosed Manga (Japanese comics) addict. 

Nayyir Ismail
Nayyir is an accomplished athlete and dedicated academic with an already established kinship to Kenya, his family is from East Africa.

Thomas Wu
Thomas is a brilliant mathematician and is one of the top competitors in Canada.  He enjoys reading and playing ping-pong.  One of the unique attributes Thomas possesses is his affable personality and easy-going nature.  He aspires to be a financial analyst.


Winker Xiao

Winker enjoys long walks on the beaches, and reading at his leisure. He is most dedicated to the idea of philanthropy, and that is the main reason of him going on this trip.
Justin Po



Justin is in FY and enjoys being outdoors.  His favourite competitive sports are baseball and football.  Justin has a particular interest in following the highlights of NBA games and his goal is to eventually build a successful business in Canada.




Jonathan Zhu
Jonathan was born in Hangzhou, China, which is recognized as the most beautiful city in China.  He enjoys basketball and tennis.  He is known for his swimming ability and ranked # 1 in the junior division.  He aspires to work in business as an agent.
