2010

In 2010, Mr. Mark Battley and Mr. Kevin Olds spearheaded an important follow-up trip to the groundbreaking 2009 initiative with four (4) students from UCC.  During this trip, a solar suitcase was created to enable students portable wireless internet and computer access powered by solar power anywhere in Kenya. UCC collaborated with students from Ntugi and focused on establishing Gmail accounts, which would provide access to Google Calendars, Google Docs and a customized search engine. Google docs, in particular, would allow collaborative document editing within the school as well as between UCC and Ntugi.  The students also shifted the Ntugi blogspot.com domain to a proper .com domain for the school so that it would be easier for people to navigate to their website: http://www.ntugischool.com.

In many ways, this trip was focused on interaction and exchange - both groups learning from each other and participating in various activities that supported the goals and ambitions of each others' livelihood.  Such activities included art, sport, music and academic activities.  A number of pictures from this trip can be found below:
