In June 2009, Mr. Mark Battley and Mr. Craig Parkinson returned to Lewa to follow-up on the 2009 March break trip. The principal aim of this trip was to develop collaborative curriculum that would enable UCC and Ntugi students to work together on physical geography projects. The principal idea was to use the OLPC computers as a platform to enable long-distance collaboration between classes. Not only would this provide an international experience for those unable to travel long-distances, but it would help sustain strong relationships being developed between the schools. The short video clip produced below helps explain our project:
As part of the trip, Craig Parkinson introduced blogger and taught Ntugi faculty how to create and edit a blog. A copy of the Ntugi Secondary School blog can be viewed here: www.ntugischool.com.
