We woke up this morning to splendid weather; the sun was
blazing and there was a slight breeze in the air. There were big plans for today
as we hoped to purchase modems and cellphones and finally reach the long
sought-after Lewa Conservancy. We got into the new military style jeeps at
10:30, and headed off to the town of Nanyuki, where we hoped to find a cell
phone and modem that suited our needs.
Unfortunately, none of the cell phones
or modems would work for us, and we ended up leaving empty handed, however, some
of the boys made trips to the supermarket and purchased a variety of items.
After the trip to Nanyuki, we hopped back into the jeeps and began our journey to
Lewa.
We arrived at our camp at 3:30pm and enjoyed the amazing cold showers it had to offer us. The camp is basic. We are sleeping in small tents, no electricity and only a basic supply of water. The food is great and we are well fed.
The sounds of the savannah ring all night with birds, crickets, bees, leopards, hyena's and zebras braying in the distance. The air is fresh and the people are the kindest I've ever met.
